Who We Are

We created Corfe Valley Outdoor Learning as we both hold the same philosophy for education – we realised we were becoming increasingly frustrated with an education system where it was expected that a one size would fit all. We believe children and young people deserve to have the opportunities to learn more creatively and to be given the pastoral care and emotional support that they deserve. Our focus is on child led learning using a practical, therapeutic approach while developing children’s social, emotional, physical and mental wellbeing.

We are both outstanding, qualified teachers with over 20 years’ experience in education, having worked as senior leaders in outstanding schools including a National Teaching Academy. We have experience of providing Alternative Provision to children with a range of SEND and SEMH needs. We are committed to ensuring all children and young people get the very best out of our provision.

Kirstie is our Level 3 trained Designated Safeguarding Lead, First Aider and has completed a course specifically focussed on the PDA profile of Autism. Tom is our Level 3 trained Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and trained Safer Recruitment lead. He is also Health and Safety Manager with IOSH accredited Managing Safely training. Both Tom and Kirstie are proficient and comfortable in multi-agency environments and we work professionally alongside Social Services, CAMHS, schools, parents and counselling services. We also support professionals in writing EHCPs and supporting documents for CAMHS.
